Field Study & Outdoor Learning

Picture2.jpg

Nestled in the Richmond District of San Francisco, Kittredge is just a short walk over to the Presidio, Land’s End, and Baker Beach.

Given the benefits of movement for the body and mind, Kittredge students have P.E. outdoors, 5 days a week.  In addition to recess time, this opportunity to be outdoors increases focus and calm.

With this in mind, Kittredge teachers plan outdoor field trips multiple times a year.  From the Botanical Gardens to Golden Gate Park, The Presidio, and Baker Beach, students of all ages explore nature spaces throughout the year.

The highlight of the Kittredge experience is the Yosemite trip.  Seventh and eighth grade students share in a week-long outing at NatureBridge, participating in the Institute’s hands-on science, geography, geology and history program, while learning about themselves and each other.
